Installing a Node

Installing a GSM based node

  1. Register a node for GSM operation. Be sure to properly select the correct node type while registering.
  2. Prepare a PC as suggested above.
  3. Buy a Motorola C350, C375 or C450 with a handsfree, a Mini-USB data cable (picture) for the phone and a GSM SIM.
  4. To maximize your profits, make sure that you obtain a GSM SIM with the lowest local call rates.
  5. Make the Audio Cables. If you can't make them,
    ask your local TV/Radio repairs shop to do it for you.
  6. Download the node software and the phone drivers.
  7. Connect the phone to the PC using the USB data cable and the audio cables.
    Make sure that correct jacks are connected to mic and speaker sockets of the sound card.
  8. Start the node software. The node software will detect the phone in 2-3 minutes.
  9. Enter your Node-ID and password.
  10. The node should start functioning now.

Installing a CDMA based node

  1. Register a node for CDMA operation. Be sure of not selecting a GSM area.
  2. Prepare a PC as suggested above.
  3. Buy an LG RD2030 with handsfree, USB data cable (picture) for the phone. The USB data cable will be available from the same shop that sells the phone. Other LG phones that are supported are RD2130, RD2230, RD2430, RD5130 and RD6130.
  4. Make the Audio Cables. If can't make them,
    ask your local TV/Radio repairs shop to do it for you.
  5. Download the node software and the phone drivers.
  6. Connect the phone to the PC using the USB data cable and the audio cables.
    Make sure that correct jacks are connected to mic and speaker sockets of the sound card.
  7. Start the node software. The node software will detect the phone in 2-3 minutes.
  8. Enter your Node-ID and password.
  9. The node should start functioning now.

Installing a Conexant modem based node

  1. Register a node. Be sure of not selecting a GSM or CDMA area while registering.
  2. Prepare a PC as suggested above.
  3. Buy the DU560M USB Conexant modem from DLink or the DX56PU USB Conexant modem from DAX networks.
  4. Download the node software and the conexant driver.
  5. Install the driver before connecting the modem to the PC.
  6. Connect the modem to the PC. Microsoft Windows should automatically detect and install the modem.
  7. Connect a phone line to the Modem.
  8. Start the node software. The node software will detect the modem in 2-3 minutes.
  9. Enter your Node-ID and password.
  10. The node should now start functioning.

Installing a PCtel modem based node

  1. Register a node. Be sure of not selecting a GSM or CDMA area while registering.
  2. Prepare a PC as suggested above.
  3. Buy the PCtel PCI modem. Be sure that the chipset is PCT789.
    The other chipsets are reportedly giving some problems.

  4. Download the node software and the PCtel driver.
  5. Install the PCtel modem. Test the modem by making an Internet connection to the local ISP using PCtel. Disconnect and delete the connection.
  6. Start the node software. The node software will detect the modem in 2-3 minutes.
  7. Enter your Node-ID and password.
  8. The node should now start functioning.

Installing an ISDN based node

  1. Register a node. Be sure of not selecting a GSM or CDMA area while registering.
  2. Prepare a PC as suggested above.
  3. Buy an ISDN adapter. Be sure that it supports CAPI.
  4. Download the node software.
  5. Properly install the ISDN adapter. Check with the adapter manual to test it's proper functioning under CAPI.
  6. Start the node software. The node software will detect the ISDN adapter in 2-3 minutes.
  7. Enter your Node-ID and password.
  8. The node should now start functioning.
